A Sangeet is two nights in one. First a show, with family routines, speeches and surprises. Then a party. The best ones keep the show tight so the party starts while energy is high.
1. welcome and dinner
Guests arrive to lounge sets and a room that is already lit. Serve dinner before the performances when you can. A fed room is a patient audience.
2. the performances
Order matters. Open with a group the whole room loves, often the parents or a large family routine. Put the friends' performances in the middle, and end with the couple. That last routine is your bridge to the dance floor.
- Keep each routine to three or four minutes. Edit the mix before the night, not during it.
- Send final tracks to your DJ at least two weeks ahead, named by performer and order.
- Agree on a cue for every routine: a host introduction, a lighting change, the first beat.
- Check the stage size against the largest group. Twelve cousins need room to land a lift.
3. speeches and toasts
Two or three speeches is plenty. Your host introduces each speaker, keeps a handheld mic ready, and brings the room back if a toast runs long.
4. the open floor
The moment the couple's routine ends, the DJ takes the floor. Start with songs everyone knows, then build. This is where lighting earns its place: the room shifts from stage to dance floor in one cue.
the details that save the night
- One run of show shared with your planner, DJ, host, photographer and filmmaker.
- A backup copy of every performance track on the DJ's system.
- Wireless mics charged and labeled for speeches.
- A clear end time agreed with the venue, so the last song is your choice, not theirs.
